FAQs

Little Explorer Montessori

  • How do you support early development?

Choosing the right preschool is one of the most important decisions a family makes. At Little Explorer Montessori, we create a nurturing, joyful environment where children feel safe, respected, and inspired to discover who they are and what they can do. At Little Explorer Montessori, learning is not rushed or forced. We follow the Montessori philosophy, which honors each child as a capable, curious individual. Through hands-on materials and thoughtful guidance from trained Montessori educators, children are encouraged to explore, make choices, and learn at their own pace. This builds confidence, independence, and a genuine love of learning that lasts far beyond the classroom.
  • How do you support social and emotional development?

Young children learn best when learning feels meaningful. In our classrooms, carefully prepared lessons in early literacy, math, science, and practical life skills are thoughtfully tailored to each child’s developmental stage. As children explore materials that spark their curiosity, they build focus, problem-solving skills, and confidence through discovery rather than pressure. At Little Explorer Montessori, social and emotional growth is woven into every part of the day. Our peaceful classroom environment encourages kindness, respect, and collaboration. Children learn to express their feelings, resolve conflicts, and care for one another, developing empathy, self-regulation, and a strong sense of belonging that supports them for life.
  • What meals and snacks are provided?

We believe that healthy food supports healthy learning. Each day, children enjoy organic, freshly prepared breakfast, lunch, and snacks made with care. Our meals are home-cooked, nutritious, and thoughtfully planned — free from junk food, artificial colors, artificial flavorings, and hydrogenated oils. We serve only wholesome, USDA-approved foods because your child deserves the very best.
  • How do you handle food allergies?

Your child’s safety matters deeply to us. We follow strict allergy-aware procedures and ensure that all staff members understand each child’s unique dietary needs. Families can feel confident knowing their children are cared for in a safe and attentive environment.
  • How much outdoor time do children get?

Children thrive when they have space to move, explore, and connect with nature. Weather permitting, our students enjoy outdoor play at least twice a day. Our outdoor space is thoughtfully designed with young children in mind, featuring age-appropriate play structures, Little Tikes cars, ball hoops, and open areas for movement and exploration. Outside, children run, climb, and ride tricycles to build strength and coordination. They also slow down to observe insects, explore their surroundings with magnifying glasses, and build friendships through shared discovery and imaginative play. Whether racing across the yard or quietly connecting with nature, outdoor time is a meaningful extension of their daily learning experience.
  • What age range do you serve?

We typically welcome children ages 2 to 6, creating a mixed-age Montessori community where younger children learn from older peers and older children develop leadership and compassion. Availability may vary, and families are encouraged to reach out to learn more.
  • What is your teacher-to-child ratio?

We maintain low teacher-to-child ratios to ensure every child receives individualized attention. This allows our educators to truly know each child — their interests, strengths, and needs — while maintaining a calm, structured Montessori environment that meets Oregon childcare guidelines.
  • How can families stay connected with you?

We believe the best learning happens when families and teachers work together. Parents receive daily updates, messages, and occasional photos through our Brightwheel app, along with regular communication and optional conferences. We love sharing milestones, small victories, and special moments — so you always feel connected to your child’s day.
